100Kgs of TNT Explosives Found in Sri Lanka After 17 years

100 kilograms of TNT explosives were found in a lorry which was seized by the Kotahena Police way back in 1996, police said.

The explosives were discovered today when some boxes fell off the truck while it was being moved to another location. Eight boxes of explosives weighing a 100Kgs were taken into custody by the Special Task Force (STF).The STF is expected to submit a report on its findings to court.  

Police said the explosives would be destroyed.At the time the explosives were first detected a stock of 75.5 kilograms
of TNT in six boxes were detected in 1996 and investigations carried out by the CID.
