A 32-year old English teacher of a government school who was also an exorcist who performed rites in a deep pit to dispel the spirits that haunted a house in Godigamuwa off Maharagama last night was found dead when the pit was opened.
Police said the exorcist had been lying in the pit with a sword in hand. He had instructed those present including his
assistant to close the mouth of the pit with earth and to open it when he gave a signal.
However after waiting for about three hours without any response from him, they opened the pit to find the exorcist dead or alive.
