In order to make the nutritional levels of preschool children higher a plan has been drawn to provide them with a glass of fresh milk every day. It is to be implemented through the officials of the Ministry of Child development and women’s affairs.
In 553 preschools there are 15,244 preschool children will be benefited in the Kurunegala district, the coordinating secretary of children’s development officer W.R.M.C Seneviratna disclosed.
Under this scheme a preschool child will get 150 mili litres of fresh milk a day. An amount of 45732 litres will be needed for a month. The government will have to incur an expense
of Rs 2,743,820 for a month. A provision of Rs 16,654,283 has been allocated for the Kurunegala district it is reliably learnt.
