To Rectify Pillay’s Statement No One as Requested

The officials of the Ministry of foreign affairs has added that during the official visit of the Commissioner of human rights of the United States there was speculation that she had requested that the statue of Sri Lanka’s first Prime Minister right Honourable D.S Senanayake be removed from the premises of the Independence square. A written confirmation had not been received yet it is learnt.

The additional secretary to the Ministry of foreign Affairs Rodney Perera had confirmed that a reply has not yet been sent in this regard from the office of the Human Rights
commission in the United States. However as she had not made such a statement that allegation has been asked to withdrawn the US Human rights council office had informed the foreign ministry.
