An Indian national was taken into custody by Customs officials at the airport early yesterday morning (September 4) for attempting to smuggle a stock of gold in his rectum.
Customs Media Spokesman, Leslie Gamini stated that the suspect was apprehended at around 1.10am this morning while 477 grams of gold was found inside a condom which was hidden in his rectum.
The suspect was also wearing two gold bangles and a ring
at the time of the arrest.The two bangles were weighed at 45g while the ring was 15g, Customs reported.The total value of the gold was around Rs.2.7 million.
