Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena has instructed to look into the bottled water manufacturing business immediately as information have been received about a racket being carried out via potable bottle water business.
Acting upon the instructions, Director General of Health Services, Dr. Palitha Maheepala, Chief Medical Officer of Colombo Municipal Council, Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam and a team have inspected all retail and whole sales trade centers in Pettah where water bottles were on for sale.
During the inspections, duplicate water bottles available for sale under a prestigious water bottle manufacturing
company have been identified.
Ministry has filed legal action against the traders as well as persons who supplied wholesale stocks of water bottles to them.
